I was looking over your sign on the old state hospital at Danvers mass. A friend of mine was a security guard there once upon a time and told me that the V shape footprint of the buildings was so that each wing could have a window at each end, allowing natural light but also since the building was on a  hill, providing a calming and beautiful view of the surrounding countryside. She also said that looking out one side of the turret you could see woods without any sign of human touch, no wire, buildings or roads.

 

she also told me that one of the parking lots actually concealed and underground reservoir. I don't know which or even if it still exists, I kind of hope it does not because it sounded really dangerous. But still and interesting story
