Lakeland Asylum Page Two
This is a picture from inside the church's main room. It is a shot looking up at
the top of the dome. This part of the institution looks better than most of the
other parts.
This is a picture I took in a hallway/lobby in the basement..
This is a picture of the metal mirrors in one of the bathrooms, on one of the
floors. I don't know who wrote Bloody Mary on the mirror. If you look
above the D and the Y in Bloody, there is what looks like a
smiling face dented into the metal. Pretty cool.
Anybody up for getting their hair done? This thing is old as hell. I guess they
had it so the insane people could make themselves feel better, by looking good!
I'm pretty sure this is the only one left in the entire building. I'm almost
positive that it's in the 1st basement.
This is a picture of a Pigeon flying out one of the windows. I barely had time
to react to take a picture of it, after it basically attacked us. You should
watch out for these things, they are all over the building.
It's usually a Pigeon.
This is a picture of one of the nurse stations, which are located on every
floor. I think there are two to each floor. I'm not sure what time the clock
says, but it is probably the time that they turned off the power in the
institution, because most other clocks in the building say the same time. Other
than the clocks that are set to 420 by idiots. This picture was taken during the
day time and the hallway is even pitch black then. Some floors are real lit up
during the day, and some are as black as night. At night time you can give up
all hope of being able to see without a flashlight.
This is a picture of what the main part of the institution looks like from the
road. To the right of it, you can see a part of the church section. If you ever
want to go here, just look for this. This is pretty hard to see at night. If you
don't know where to look, you'll miss it. We did it the first time we went here.
Right next to it is the new mental institution which is in use, and on the other
side across the street is the Juvenille Detention Center. Down the street is a
tiny little building for little kids with mental problems. And across the street
used to be the abandoned home for old people. You can see that by clicking
this.
These are two pictures of this place, right before it got knocked down. Probably
the last two pictures taken of it. It's sad, because this place was extremely
fun! In the basement, there was hundreds of wheelchairs. New and old ones. There
were also tons of boxes left there that contained belongings to the old people.
There was even a freaking movie theater in there! The projector was still there,
too. We got lost in there many times. I had a whole role of film from there, but
it got ruined before I could develop it. I'd like to say sorry to anyone who
didn't get to go in this place before it got knocked down. Opened in the 40's or
50's, closed in April 1996, demolished August 2002.
A view of part of the church, from the back of the main building.
This is a picture from the front parking lot/field of a part of the church and
the main building.
I thought this was a cool picture.
A picture looking from one roof to another. There are many sections of the roof
to go out on. At night time, it's a great view.
An extremely long hallway that ventures into darkness. This hallway never ends.
View from a hallway. Looking at a part of the institution. That building holds
game rooms. There are tables with checker boards built into them, busted up pool
tables, broken pianos, crafts, and many other things.
These are two pictures from the roof of the house that is out back of the mental
institution. This little place has lots of old TV's and couches. It looks like
there was a big fire in there a few years ago. Out back of it is big vats of
water with turbines in them. Look for the spiral stairs that lead to the
basement in this place. The entire basement is flooded, but if you have a
flashlight you can see through the water to the bottom. It is about 15 - 20 feet
deep. Thinking of swimming in there?
Back in 2000, a group of kids were exploring the mental institution late one
night. They walked into a room on the 6th floor without checking it, first. A
bum jumped from behind the door and stabbed two of them. One died in the
hallway. And one died right here on this bed. If you walk around on the 6th
floor, you can find the blood stains.
The picture on the left, shows the view out the window. You can't see the
outside steps because grass grew all around them. I advise you not to walk down
those steps, you'll end up with ticks all over yourself. There is also a swamp
at the bottom of the steps which is easy to fall into, some spots it's hard to
see.
Go to the Blood Bed part for the story on these blood stains. People say that
isn't real because the blood is only in the center of the tiles, but I have the
explanation of that for you. The tiles are concaved, so the blood pooled in the
center of them, due to gravity.
A view of the main building from the side. I found a working pager out there. I
was hoping that this picture would turn out with faces in the windows... but, no
dice.
A picture of the bridge/hallway that I think they would push the stretchers down
to take they to the morgue. I have never found the morgue, even though I've been
there around 30 times. I know there is a morgue, because I was with a friend
once and we found blue prints. On the blue prints was the morgue, BUT the floor
number was not on the blue prints, nor was anything that could help us figure
out where in the building it was. If you have ever found it, please e-mail me
and tell me where it is!
I first found this snake on the table in the cafeteria, back in November or
December of 2001. The night we found it, the table was still warm from it.
Somebody stuffed it with fireworks and it exploded from the inside. We found the
left over fireworks on another table a few feet away. When I took this picture,
the snake body and skin had almost a plastic texture. There are many other
"sacrificed" animals all through out the buildings.
What a view!
I stuck my hand out the window to take this picture. Not sure which part of the
building I was in. I think it was from one of the rooms in the church.
Lots of windows. Look for faces. I don't see any.
This is a shot of a door way that leads down a hallway (duh). Can anyone tell me
what that sign means?
