Seaside Park NJ Wooden Passenger Car

Seaside Park ,NJ Wooden Passenger Car Now Destroyed

This railway car was used as a house for years until it was torn apart and carted away. It was situated adjacent to where the Pennsylvania Railroad tracks left the Seaside Park peninsula and crossed the bay to continue on to Philadelphia. The trains now terminate in Point Pleasant (Bay Head Junction) about 10 miles north. The bridge crossing the bay burned many times from the coal fired steam engines and in about 1949-1950 the route was abandoned and the bridge removed. Nobody in Seaside Park or anywhere else thought it important enough to preserve this car. They have saved small section of it with three windows and it is stored in the Seaside Park Maintenance Yard.
